Golf Initiation Fees and Annual Costs at Clubs in Hawaii
Initiation fees at Hawaii golf clubs vary widely because the market includes private clubs, resort communities, semi-private facilities, and public courses. King Kamehameha Golf Club represents Maui’s upscale private market, with initiation fees potentially reaching $50,000 or more and substantial annual dues. Hoakalei Country Club on Oahu also commands premium membership pricing, with initiation costs potentially exceeding $30,000. Honolulu Country Club offers another established private option, where annual membership expenses can reach approximately $8,000 to $15,000.
Hokuala Club on Kauai combines golf membership with a luxury resort and residential community, making total costs dependent on membership and property arrangements. Maui Country Club provides a more traditional membership structure, generally costing considerably less than Hawaii’s luxury residential clubs. The Club at Makalei on the Big Island also offers comparatively accessible golf memberships. Depending on membership type, annual costs at these mid-range clubs can range from roughly $3,000 to $10,000.
Hawaii Kai Golf Course and Waikoloa Village Golf Club illustrate more accessible golf options where memberships or frequent-player programs can reduce recurring playing costs. The Club at Discovery Harbour provides another Big Island option with costs generally below Hawaii’s premier private clubs. Golfers should also consider cart charges, food minimums, assessments, guest fees, and other club expenses when estimating annual spending. Actual pricing changes frequently, so prospective members should confirm current initiation fees and dues directly with each facility.
