Dedham Country & Polo Club – Initiation Fees and Annual Costs
Dedham Country & Polo Club is private, and the club does not publicly disclose current membership pricing. Independent 2026 estimates place the full-golf initiation fee around $250,000, considerably above older reported figures. Estimated annual dues are approximately $20,000, excluding assessments, minimums, taxes, and optional services. A reported $300 quarterly food-and-beverage minimum could add approximately $1,200 to yearly membership expenses. Public green fees are unavailable because regular golf access is limited to members, sponsored guests, and approved outings. Guest green fees are not publicly listed, so members should confirm current charges directly with the golf staff.
Golf carts are available, but the club does not publish a current standard cart fee. Walking remains an important part of the traditional golf experience, subject to club policies and playing conditions. Current caddie and forecaddie fees are also not disclosed publicly by Dedham Country & Polo Club. Members should verify caddie availability, gratuity expectations, and guest-related golf charges before scheduling play. Additional expenses may include tournaments, instruction, dining, locker services, racquet programs, guests, and special events. Actual annual spending can therefore exceed base dues substantially, depending on membership category and club usage.
Dedham Country & Polo Club Facilities
Dedham Country & Polo Club combines golf, tennis, pickleball, paddle, swimming, dining, and social activities within a historic setting. Golf amenities include the championship course, driving range, putting green, short-game area, professional instruction, and golf shop. The racquet program features outdoor clay tennis courts, indoor tennis facilities, paddle courts, and newer pickleball courts. Members also enjoy a swimming pool, enhanced poolside dining, clubhouse gathering spaces, and multiple dining options. A major renovation completed in 2024 added updated kitchens, refreshed member areas, a redesigned bar, and improved recreational facilities. Private functions are supported by clubhouse event spaces accommodating approximately 150 guests with member sponsorship.
The club occupies approximately 167 acres in Dedham, southwest of downtown Boston and near several established residential communities. Dedham combines historic New England character with convenient access to Boston, major highways, shopping, dining, and cultural attractions. Mature trees and rolling terrain provide a secluded atmosphere despite the club’s location within Greater Boston. The surrounding community includes historic neighborhoods, schools, parks, conservation areas, and Dedham’s active commercial districts. Nearby Legacy Place provides additional shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and services for residents and visitors. This suburban location allows members to enjoy traditional country-club surroundings while remaining convenient to central Boston.
Dedham Country & Polo Club Golf Course
Dedham features a private 18-hole championship course designed by Seth Raynor and completed in 1925. Donald Ross previously redesigned the property’s nine-hole course before Raynor created the present 18-hole layout. Bentgrass greens and fairways complement the classic architecture, with generally excellent conditioning and carefully restored strategic features. Gold tees measure approximately 6,223 yards, playing to par 70 with a 71.4 rating and 138 slope. Golf Digest lists the course around 6,232 yards, illustrating minor differences among published course measurements. The routing uses rolling terrain, strategic hazards, demanding greens, and numerous template-hole concepts associated with Raynor.
Published sources do not provide a reliable current bunker total or definitive number of water holes. Brooks and other hazards influence selected holes, while bunkering provides the course’s primary strategic defense. Notable holes include the Redan third, Alps ninth, Eden twelfth, Punchbowl thirteenth, and Biarritz fourteenth. Other Raynor templates include Cape, Short, Long, Road, Bottle, and Reverse Redan designs throughout the routing. Dedham hosted the 2023 Massachusetts Women’s Amateur and previously staged the USGA Girls’ Junior Championship. Member tournaments, charitable outings, and other competitions also use this historic Massachusetts course throughout the golf season.
